Frankfurt in
central Germany is a port on the Main
River. It is known in English as
Frankfurt. The city is an industrial,

Frankfurt's
character was strongly secular, as
befitting a cosmopolitan trading
centre, and the city was among the
first to embrace Luther's
controversial ideas the sixth biggest

Among English speakers it is usually
known as simply Frankfurt, but Germans
call it by its full name so as to
distinguish it from another Frankfurt
